We can't live our lives like Google runs their business

If you think about it, running your life is sort of like running a business. There are budgets, tasks, deadlines, entertainment, accounting practices, vacation time and healthcare.  Ah, to be like Google where we had no business plan and just roll with it each day with each new trend - that would be the life!  It's just not reality.

Reading this article on FastCompany made me think abou this topic:

Google's Business Strategy: Have No Business Strategy

Serial innovators like Google give employees time to explore ideas -- even though some of those ideas turn into massive failures, writes Tim Harford in Adapt: Why Success Always Starts with Failure.

[This is the second in a three-part series of excerpts from Tim Harford's new book. The first excerpt was "Why Do We Hold Fast To Losing Strategies?"]

You can also read the rest of this post to get some helpful tips from someone who knows what it's like to care for an aging parent.

Cold And Flu Tips For The Work Place

I went to the Eye Doctor today and noticed a big red stop sign on his wall.  It said, "If you have a sore throat or a cough, please ask the desk for a mask."

I thought that was kind of interesting.  Then I got to thinking about it.  I'm the doc and I have to sit four inches away from somebody's face. I sure don't want them sneezing and wheezing who knows what all over me.  All little prevention goes a long way.  And if you are sick, why inflict it on others?  Going to see the doctor is one thing.

So, how does your work place prevent the spread of infections?  Here are some tips from Flu.gov.

Then, call Pacific Medical Supply to get geared up with Infection Control Supplies like these:

Incontinence Products For Adults-We Have Them

Three elderly men are talking about their aches, pains and bodily functions. The seventy-year old man says, "I have this problem. I wake up every morning at seven and it takes me twenty minutes to tinkle."

The eighty-year old man says, "My case is worse. I get up at eight and I sit there and grunt and groan for half an hour before I finally have a BM."

The ninety-year old says, "At seven I pee like a horse, at eight I flop like a cow."

"So what's your problem?" ask the others.

"I don't wake up until nine."

YIKES!  Time to call Pacific Medical Supply for all your adult incontinence supplies.

Flu Season Tips For Caregivers

Pacific Medical Supply wants to help you and those you care for stay healthy this Flu Season.

From Flu.gov:

If you are taking care of a sick person at home, take the following steps.

  • Ask the person’s healthcare provider about any special care that might be needed, especially if the person is pregnant or has a health condition such as diabetes, heart disease, asthma, or emphysema.
  • Ask the patient’s healthcare provider whether the patient should take antiviral medications.
  • Keep the sick person away from other people as much as possible, especially others who are at high risk of complications from influenza.
  • Remind the patient to cover coughs, and clean his/her hands with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub often, especially after coughing and/or sneezing.
  • Make sure everyone in the household cleans their hands often, using soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub.

Flu Season Begins At Our House

Time to lay in the lemon-lime soda.  Queasy stomachs are making an unwelcome appearance at our house. Time to get out the Hand Sanitizers and other germ fighters.  I'm a big fan of hand-washing and so far the Flu Bug has left me alone.  I'm not above a face mask and gloves if it means I get to skip two days of puking my guts up. And please, cover your sneeze, don't spread disease.  This friendly reminder brougt to you by your friends at Pacific Medical Supply.

Wound Care From Pacific Medical Supply

I've got your basic first aid kit going at home.  I'm good your bandages and ointment.  Anything passed that, and I have no clue.  That's where Pacific Medical Supply comes in.  They know all about this stuff.

Dancers Last year, my mom broke her ankle.  Was that ever an education!  The doctor pinned her back together so she couldn't be in a cast.  Dear Old Dad got to change her dressings.  I guess she had more pins in her leg than a pincushion.  And all those little holes had a dressing that needed changing.

Thank goodness for Pacific Medical Supply and the extensive catalog of Wound Care supplies.  And Mom?  She's ready to hit the dance floor and go for a little spin!
